The Boys are Two!

It's amazing how time fast time goes by. The boys celebrated their second birthday a week ago on September 9th! Of course, we couldn't limit their celebration to just the day of their birthday, so instead, it was a week long celebration...kind of like Mardi Gras, but for Nathan and Christopher. We like to call it NathanChristopherGras.

Here are some pictures from their celebration.

We actually really celebrated on the Sunday before since their Kansas grandparents were in town for the weekend. Using an idea we got from one of Robin's students, we wrapped gifts up and had a yarn from their crib leading to each of these gifts. The gifts got progressively bigger the further they got from the crib. Amazing how even at Christmas time, the boys had trouble and really no interest in unwrapping gifts, now they seem to really relish the moment.

Here they are at the first stop...a bubble stick for each of them.

The second gift was more train tracks. As you can see in the background, they love trains...or as they like to call them "choo choos."

Third gift were some of those toy hamsters that were all the rage back in Christmas called Zhu Zhu pets. We think the cats enjoy them as much as the boys do. As you can see though, Nathan wasn't completely awake yet.

While Christopher was thoroughly enjoying the experience.

After the Zhu Zhu pets, we went downstairs where the boys found some pillows. Nathan got a train, and not pictured is a monkey pillow that Christopher saw at Target and fell in love with. Of course we didn't buy the monkey pillow immediately, but when Will went back to get it, it was no longer available. After running around to two other Targets though, we finally found the monkey pillow.

As you can see, after the pillows, the gifts started getting bigger. One was a home for the Zhu Zhu pets and the other was a Lego construction set. The boys love bulldozers and anything construction related so Will decided it was time to introduce them to Lego. Not sure who had more fun with them though...Will or the boys.

Finally, at the very end of the string of yarn, were new tricycles from Grandma and Grandpa.

Here is a picture of the boys playing with their new toys.

Later that evening, we met up with YeYe, Nai Nai, Ms. Valerie and Mr. Bob and some other family that happened to be in town for dinner.
Here is Nathan with the giggles. He is covering up his shirt that says "I'm 2 and there's nothing you can do about it!" How true.

Nathan doing the Gator Chomp!

After running around, it was time to settle down for some water and dinner.

After dinner, it was time for CAKE!

The boys definitely had their fill of birthday cake.

Naturally, after cake, it was time for more presents!

So as we said in the beginning, this wasn't just a one day celebration. A few days later, gifts from their Uncle and Auntie arrived, so they got to open presents all over again.

Here are some pictures of the boys showing off their new Bills jerseys from their Uncle and Aunt.

Nathan doing a touchdown dance.

Believe it or not, this series of pictures even lacks some of the other presents the boys received such as big trucks from their YeYe and NaiNai. It's a good thing we decided not to spoil them! Yikes. We hear the toys only get bigger and more expensive as they get older. It won't be too late to stop spoiling them next year right? :-)

You have no idea how happy it makes me to see this new post! :)
It amazes me how much of a difference it is from their last birthday to this one. even with the cake so different from the cupcakes. they're so big now and it's only been a year. so crazy.

Thanks for sharing the pictures. Can't wait to see them in person!

Very soon you will have a "toy room" in your house. We finally emptied out most of the toys from our "toy room" when Patricia reach the preteen age.
