School started for the boys the end of August and we are now dealing with our third illness. The boys were both a little snotty over last weekend but seemed to be doing well when they went to school on Tuesday morning. I received the first call from school reporting one of the dynamic duo was sick...poor little Nathan started wheezing and was just not acting himself. I took him to the pediatrician for evaluation and he had a saturation of 88% which is not good at all. His little lungs just were not getting the oxygen they needed. What is so strange is that we were just in the pediatricians office the day before for their 2 year old check up and everyone was FINE!! (They are little guys though: Nathan is in the 10th percentile for height and weight and Christopher is closer to the 15th percentile) Man, things can go bad quick huh? Nathan was given a nebulizer treatment and a nice big shot of steroids and now we are the proud owner of a cute little panda nebulizer. Luckily the mask is an elephant which thrills Nathan since he is a huge fan of Horton the Elephant from Dr. Seuss. Christopher was also there with Nathan and me, and he was such a good little boy. He behaved the entire time and even talked the doctor into listening to his lungs and letting him use the machine to check his sat levels. He was just thrilled. Both boys just love going to the doctor...if you ask them if they like the doctor all they say is "More More!!". Nathan might cool off a little now that he received the steroid shot. It will be interesting if he gets upset when we have to go back next week for a follow up.
The other part of the phone call from the school this last Tuesday was to inform me that Christopher was kissing on a little girl!!! He is 2 YEARS OLD!! Can you believe our little boy is already playing the field? The teacher said it was just adorable. He has now been separated from his new love interest since Tuesday due to illness. Unfortunately he is now spiking a temp and they both will not be going to school again tomorrow. I guess he will just have to wait until Tuesday when hopefully they are both healthy. Until then we are checking temps, reading tons of books while they both become elephants on the nebulizer, and push drugs such as oral steroids and cold medicines. It is a party at the Li house!!!
