Kansas Part III

Day Three in Kansas brought us to Tanganyika Wildlife Park. Tanganyika Wildlife Company began as a zoo supply business and bred, transported, exported, imported, species all over the world. However, changes in government regulations led the company to focus on breeding its own species and in 2008 the Wildlife Park was opened to the public.

The first stop in Tanganyika were the giraffes, which have now become one of the boys' favorite animals, especially since they get to feed them.

After the giraffes, we stopped by to see the birds. We are allowed to feed them a special juice, but they didn't tell us what happens when you feed the birds.

That's right, they decide to go home with you.

Christopher looks like he really enjoyed the birds, despite his dad getting attacked by them...wait, maybe that's why he enjoyed them so much.

On to the kangaroos! No feeding here, but amazing the access this park provides to the animals.

Any zoo would be incomplete without a petting zoo. The boys really enjoyed visiting the rabbits.

The turtles on the other hand...

Not sure what the park was thinking putting up a fancy playground set in the zoo when there were already so many great animals to check out. Needless to say, we still had to stop at the slides.

After the break at the slides, it was onto feeding the lemurs.

The boys had a good time, but I think there were also happy to get back in air conditioning, since it was over 100 degrees that day.

There were lots of other animals at Tanganyika that aren't included in this set of pictures, but we just chose the ones that allowed for the most interaction. We also decided to skip the camel and pony rides since it was getting pretty hot. If you are ever in Wichita though and looking for something to do, consider the Tanganyika!
