New Tricks Volume 2

Now that the boys are officially 3 months old, I feel Will and I can let you all in on our little secret regarding the dynamic duo. Our boys are very advanced. :-) The boys continue to grow like crazy and we both are sure they are heavier each time we pick them up out of the crib in the morning. Will weighed Nathan on our scale tonight and based on his calculations, Nathan is weighing in at 14 pounds. Christopher was sleeping at the time weigh in was going on, so we will have to report his unofficial weight at a later time but if he continues to eat like he has been eating.....I think he might just outweigh Nathan by the 4 month check up!!

So, proof that the boys are advanced....

1. Christopher has discovered his tongue. It has become a favorite past time for all of us to teach Christopher how to stick out his tongue. He now will grin and laugh when we start the game and mimic us. We might come to regret this little game later in life but right now it is sure fun!

2. Tummy time: Both boys are doing SO well in this area. We are convinced they will start crawling in the next few weeks. Both boys will wiggle across the floor when we hold our hands behind their feet to give them something to push off of. It is awesome but we must watch them close since they tend to play chicken and can plow right into each other. I am sure there will be many bumps and bruises in the future but we would rather it be later rather than sooner.

3. We are now teaching the boys sign language. The boys are both drawn to the TV like moths to a flame so Baby Einstein has a sign language DVD which both boys seem to like. They just giggle like crazy when they see the blue puppets. I am sure in a couple of months we will figure out a way to put a video on this blog with the boys signing.

4. Nathan is already showing his Asian heritage by showing his love for the camera. This little one is a HAM! Once the camera comes out, he strikes up a pose and shows his pearly whites....well, his gums right now. You never know, he might be the next Brad Pitt or George Clooney much later in life. :-)

For all you seasoned parents out there....I am starting to get a feeling that the boys are learning how to manipulate us...can this be?? I am sure our little angles would never do this but there have been some occasions when they are both screaming bloody murder and will quiet down, look around for us and if they see us, start the screaming again. It just seems like 3 months old is too early to already figure out these little tricks right?

Report from the sleep deprivation camp: Things have improved a little in this department. The boys are now on a bedtime schedule where we get them into bed right around 8:30pm. Now, there are nights like tonight when it seems like they snuck out to Starbucks and had a triple shot espresso and then continue to do the "twin talk" in the crib for an hour or so but in general, the kids are usually asleep by 9pm. They are waking up at 3am and then again around 6:30am which seems much better than every 2 hours as they were doing in the past. This has allowed Will to get a full night's sleep since I am able to usually cover the 3am feeding on my own. All bets are off when the kids wake up at the same time....then daddy gets a little wake up call. :-)

Speaking of sleep....it is 9:45pm on a Saturday night and it is time for bed. We are such an exciting bunch huh? :-)

Til Next time.....watch out for the crazy Christmas shoppers and have a great day!
Love
Robin, Will, Nathan and Christopher
