More teeth coming in!!

The dynamic duo have been busy cutting teeth for the last few weeks. The current count is:

Christopher: 2 teeth

Nathan: 1 tooth and the second bottom tooth that should make an appearance any second!!

Both boys have been chewing on anything that can not run away from them and I am learning not to allow them to chew on my fingers anymore! Nathan left a huge tooth mark in my finger and man...it hurt!! We are now really loving pacifiers and any little chew toys they can slobber on and chew on to keep them happy. Before long we will be able to join the cheerios club...we really need to get a dog so he can clean up the food explosion that is about to occur when they start attempting to feed themselves. Maybe we will get a little rat dog...maybe a chiwawa so the cats can also take out some frustration on it when it is not acting as a vacuum cleaner after feeding time. Where is all of this coming from? I guess you can tell I am running on very little sleep.

I am currently writing this particular blog in a hotel in Orlando. The boys are completing their first road trip since I had a meeting this weekend. Will investigated all road trip survival skills by polling some of our more experienced friends. The suggestion was to go through normal bedtime routines and then put them in a carseat and go. This sounded like a good plan to us....we did just that and Nathan decided to scream the first half hour or so. I performed my new tricks by finding a way to climb in the backseat to hold his hand and sit with him until he fell asleep. We had about 1 hour of quiet until Christopher decided it was time to let us know he was not impressed with this new sleeping arrangement. We finally got to the hotel and unloaded..the boys were now wide awake. They finally settled in for a nice short nap around 12:30am and then decided it was time to get up at 4:30am. So...we are a little tired. Tonight Christopher decided 7:00pm was late enough for him. Nathan on the other hand..initially fell asleep for about 45 minutes and decided he would rather have movie night with mom and dad. He finally passed out about 9:30 since he didn't think the chick flick we were watching was too impressive.

Nathan is now crawling around with some confidence. I am sure by the end of this week he will be going 100 miles per hour. Christopher continues to do the army crawl all over the place. He loves to stand up and has mastered pulling himself up to a standing position. I assume walking is the next new trick. He runs in circles in his walker and giggles with each lap. We are hoping the video will post....stay tuned. It is absolutely hilarious.

The boys have been very spoiled the last few days since their great Aunt and Uncle from Chicago...Dale and Becky came down to visit. We all had such fun visiting with them and wearing them out!! It is so fun to see our visitors master the helping with car seats, dodging baby walkers, and putting up with our many references to poo. ;-) Thanks Aunt Becky and Uncle Dale for visiting and helping us out!!! We all love you!!

Well, the boys are in bed, the draft is over for the day (thank god....although Will still can not tear himself away from all the talking heads) and we are ready for another busy day of bottles, packing, driving, and finally getting back to normal after our first road trip to Orlando.

Have a great week!
Robin, Will, Christopher, and Nathan

Ahh, yes the infamous car rides. We do nap time, that way it doesn't mess with the whole night.... and it doesn't mess with us adult's night time sleep.

Teething. Rough with one baby (or so I'm told), but absolutely amazingly challenging with two! I remember bouncing back and forth between my two (Jeremy earned SEVEN teeth in a two-week span) and thinking it would never end...but the best thing I learned was the value of a (clean) washcloth dipped into ice-cold water and rubbed on their gums. :) They loved that, and it gave them something soothing to gnaw on (besides my digits!).

I remembered that teething was one of the rough times for both parents and the kids. They loved ice cold clean washcloths/teething toys during these days.

When we toke the kids for a long road trip, we changed their diaper and fed them right before the trip and they slept most of way. Now days, we drive at the late night or early morning not because of the fusing kids - to avoid the heavy traffic.

Cheerios was one of best baby foods. It was easy for them to feed themselves and wasn't a choking hazard. They're easy to clean up (not sticky or mushy) - just make sure not to step on it. However, since we didn't bring the vacuum cleaner, it took us a long time to clean the car once we arrived the camp site at Yosemite so that there was no chance for any bears to get it.
